Summer 6-Week Program

TRIO RUB students at conference

To simulate the college experience for rising 9th through 12th grade students, we offer a six-week program on-campus Monday through Friday. First-time participants will stay weeknights in the residence halls under the supervision of trained residential staff for two weeks.

Afterward, they’ll join other participants as commuter students for the remaining four weeks. Modified participation may be arranged for students with scheduling issues.

Regular Upward Bound provides all transportation to/from campus. Students will take courses from home via Zoom if health advisories suggest this to be the safer option. Graduate Assistants will assist Educational Specialists throughout the program.

Participants attend class from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays, which includes a one-hour lunch provided on campus. Late afternoons (3 to 5 p.m.) are filled with hands-on, interactive activities in different departments with professors and graduate students to job shadow, mentor, explore careers and majors and participate in volunteer service. At the end of the program (conditions permitting), students take an end-of-year college tour.
