We help students remain engaged through high school to achieve a diploma. Our programs offer:

Post-Graduation Preparation

Post-Graduation Preparation

We help students achieve their post-secondary educational goals. Our programs offer:

  • Introductions to and planning for college life
  • Connections to support programs (TRIO SSS)
  • Continued connections on UNL-UB Alumni page and reunions
  • Workshops in research and library skills
  • Introductions at college being attended
  • Connections through social networking

Benefits to Sophomores & Juniors

  • Scholarship Timeline

    Participate in workshops to identify scholarships of interest. Students will make note of eligibility, application requirements and deadlines. Students will then create a timeline to manage their applications. This information is passed to the senior education specialist to help monitor the student’s completion of applications during their senior year.

  • ACT Program

    The curriculum specialist with host several workshops/bootcamps in preparation for the April LPS ACT exam. Students should watch for information about preparatory programs each spring.

  • Department Tours

    During the spring semester, juniors will participate in at least one departmental tour on a college campus. In small groups, they can visit departments within their prospective field of interest, meeting faculty, student representatives and academic advisors to learn more about the programs.

  • Senior Academic Year Programs

    The Upward Bound Math-Science senior program assists current HS seniors in exploring career and educational paths, preparing them for college placement examinations and guiding them through college and scholarship applications. High school seniors will learn about financial aid literacy and apply for the FAFSA. Educational specialists will provide outreach and support through text messaging, email, phone, in-person meetings, virtual/Zoom sessions and social media during the academic year.

    The program will include:

    • Senior Program Schedule & Monday Night Sessions
      Students will learn about the senior program and the schedule for the academic year.
    • Scholarship Research and Resources
      Students will learn about the different scholarship resources available to them.
    • Applying to College
      Students receive tips to complete applications, complete a senior year timeline, and learn about application fee waivers, letters of recommendation, essays and much more.
    • Financial Aid Awareness & Financial Literacy
      Students will learn about the different types of financial aid, the FAFSA and financial literacy.
    • Senior Year College Timeline
      Students will learn about the steps needed to prepare for college and establish a personal plan.
    • Preparation for ACT tests
      Students will learn how to prepare for the tests and the resources and sessions available to help them.
  • Senior Summer Component

    During the six-week summer program, education specialists and guest speakers assist rising HS seniors with exploring career and educational paths, preparing for completing college and scholarship applications, understanding financial aid and literacy preparing for college placement exams. Students will build a portfolio with the tools they need to apply for scholarships, financial aid and college admissions in the fall.

      Students will get tips and access resources for virtual/in-person college visits, reseaching college, and understanding admission and application requirements.
    • Scholarship Research & Essay Writing
      Students will get tips and resources for researching scholarships, understanding eligibility requirements and application requirements.
    • Financial Aid & Literacy
      Students will learn more about the different types of financial aid.
    • Career Research
      Students will learn resources and tips to research and identify college majors and career paths of interest.
    • Professional Skill-building
      Students will learn skills related to building a resume as well as applying for admissions and financial aid.
  • Summer Launch Program: Transition to College

    This program was built to provide Upward Bound Math-Science high school graduated seniors assistance in completing all required documents for a smooth transition into college. It will help graduated seniors navigate and use college and university campus resources. This program involves outreach through text messaging, email, phone, in-person meetings, virtual/Zoom sessions and social media during the summer.

      Students will get tips on transitioning to college and understanding their college’s entrance requirements.

      Students will learn important skills like how to build a college schedule, improving time management and many other life skills.
    • Understanding Financial Aid & Paying for College
      Students will learn how to understand financial aid packages and how paying for college works.
    • Post-secondary TRIO Resources
      Students will learn about TRIO programs and resources on college campuses.
